Japan is an island country and the islands are part of over 6,000 islands grouped in an archipelago in the Pacific Ocean with China to its east across the Sea of Japan. The climate of Japan weather is temperate and the country enjoys four distinct seasons. When selecting the time of year for a visit, trip planners should consider the mild springs with the lovely cherry trees blooming or the autumn when the colours on the hardwood trees are at their peak.
Annual Rainfall
Because of the airflows from the tropics, the months of May through September are apt to be extremely rainy. At least seventy per cent of the year’s precipitation falls in this summer period, especially from August until September when typhoons pass over the islands. The total rainfall for the year is from 1,000 to 2,000 mm.
The Seasons
Spring – The months of March through May are for springtime. The cherry blossoms bloom between March and April. The country greets them with festivals.
